Day 2
Why Your First Investment Doesn’t Matter as Much as You Think
When I first started learning about investing, I thought the first decision had to be perfect. I spent way too much time thinking about what to buy and almost no time actually starting. I also haven’t invested a huge amount. It’s been small, and very intentional. But even with that, the shift was real. Once I finally put money in, everything changed. Prices moving up and down stopped being theory and started feeling real. I noticed how often I checked my phone. How small moves felt bigger than they actually were. How easy it was to panic or get excited for no real reason.

Once I finally put money in, everything changed. Prices moving up and down stopped being theory and started feeling real. I noticed how often I checked my phone. How small moves felt bigger than they actually were. How easy it was to panic or get excited for no real reason.
That experience taught me more than any article or video ever did.
My first investment wasn’t great. It didn’t make much money, and at one point it was down. But it did something more important — it showed me how I react when real money is involved.
That’s something you can’t learn without actually starting.
I’ve realised that the first investment is just a starting point, not a test. It’s not supposed to prove how smart you are. It’s supposed to make you comfortable being in the market.
People who wait for the perfect first pick usually end up starting late and stressed. By then, every small loss feels heavy. When you start early and small, mistakes don’t hurt as much, and the lessons stay with you.
Your first investment won’t decide your future. Your ability to keep learning and stay consistent will.
If I could go back, I wouldn’t try to be smarter at the start. I’d just start sooner.
